Meet Sophie

Born in Canada, Sophie Reen received her Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and her Masters’ of Music from Indiana University’s Jacob’s School of Music.

 

For the past twenty five years she has loved teaching early Childhood Music and Movement classes and group and private piano and cello lessons at various times in the communities of Bloomington, Columbus, Batesville/Greensburg.

 

As a cellist, Sophie has played with orchestras such as the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood, the Colorado Festival Orchestra and The New York String Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. She now enjoys playing part-time for the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. Mrs. Reen was an Adjunct Professor of Cello at Goshen College and an Associate Instructor at Indiana University. Until recently, she and her husband, Dr. Stephen Reen and their nine children, performed nationwide as The Reen Family Singers.
