Meet Megan
Megan Graves is an opera singer and voice teacher originally from Haslet, Texas. Graves holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the Eastman School of Music and a Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati’s CCM.
Megan’s first introduction to classical music was through violin lessons when she was 7 years old. An award-winning violinist, she had the foundation of classical music from a young age, but she grew up singing jazz and musical theatre before finding opera. Megan got her start as a singer by singing the National Anthem, which she has performed over a hundred times at national-level sporting events. Growing up a lover of choir, pop, and musical theatre, Megan is not only capable of teaching different styles but openly encourages her students to explore any genre they are interested in. Her education and experience as a classical singer have allowed her to lay a healthy foundation for her technique and her students. Megan’s primary goal is to give her students a technique that applies to whatever they love to sing and to help foster their love of music and singing.
During 2023-2024 Graves performed several roles with the Norwegian National Opera including the roles of Curra (La Forza del Destino), Mère Jeanne (Dialogues des Carmélites), and Erste Magd (Elektra). In 2022 Graves created the role of Rumer in the world premiere of Fierce by William Menefield with Cincinnati Opera. Graves is an alumnus of Palm Beach Opera’s Bailey Apprentice Program. An avid lover of new opera, Graves participated in several workshops with Cincinnati Opera, including the workshop production of The Hours by Kevin Puts in which she sang the roles of Nelly, Julien, and Heather.
