Why choose Musikmakers? (ages 4.5-6 years)
Musikgarten offers a joyful two-year musical journey for young learners through two sequential programs:
🎵 Music Makers: At Home in the World
🌍 Music Makers: Around the World
Your child is now developmentally ready for this next exciting step—a carefully designed program that includes singing, creative and structured movement, instrument playing, and ensemble work, ear-training, and guided listening. This musically rich curriculum builds symbolic thinking, concentration, memory, and confident self-expression. Children will also begin working with written musical patterns, laying the foundation for true music literacy.
Year 1: Music Makers – At Home in the World 🏞️
In this first year, your child will explore the music of the natural world while building a strong foundation in music-making. Activities nurture curiosity about nature while developing a fascination with musical instruments.
Children are introduced to the sounds of orchestral instruments—first individually, then as part of an ensemble. This listening foundation is essential and prepares them for long-term success in reading and understanding music in later classes.
Year 2: Music Makers – Around the World 🌎
In the second year, your child will travel the globe through music! They will explore the musical traditions of:
🇬🇧 The British Isles
🇩🇪 Germany
🪶 Indigenous North American (Amerindian) cultures
🎶 African-American musical heritage
Through songs, dances, stories, rituals, and customs, children develop both musical skills and a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultures around the world.
🎹 A Strong Foundation for What Comes Next
By the end of this two-year program, your child will have gained a comprehensive, well-rounded musical foundation—perfectly preparing them for the next exciting step:
➡️ Music Makers: At the Keyboard (beginning piano)
.
Why choose Group Piano? (ages 5.5-8 years)
Musikgarten children arrive at the piano already ready to play—because they begin with the songs they’ve spent years singing, moving to, and loving. 🎶
In these small-group keyboard classes, children learn alongside friends, building confidence and joy as they play familiar music right from the start. With three full years of curriculum divided into six 12-week semesters, your child will learn to play by ear and to read music, developing true musical fluency.
A rich, well-loved repertoire—filled with familiar and tuneful songs—helps students quickly experience success, fueling pride, motivation, and a lifelong love of making music. 🎹✨
Learning Continues at Home
To support practice and joyful reinforcement at home, each semester includes:
🎧 A listening CD & digital download
🎼 A practice CD & digital download, featuring weekly practice tracks
🧩 Notation games
🎵 Repertoire and sight-reading pieces
✍️ Opportunities for composing
… and more!
These comprehensive materials keep your child excited, inspired, and progressing—long after each class ends.
You’ll both love Musikgarten—where children not only learn to play the piano, they learn to love making music! ❤️
